Original Razer Pro Click buying guide: check the model and charging port

If you are considering a Razer Pro Click offer, identify the generation before comparing features. The original model uses Micro-USB, while the newer Pro Click V2 is a different product with USB-C. A listing that shortens both names to “Pro Click” can hide a meaningful difference for your desk.

This guide focuses on the original RZ01-02990. It uses manufacturer documentation and does not claim a hands-on assessment of fit, clicks or wireless performance.

How do you identify the original model?

Razer's support page identifies the original Pro Click as RZ01-02990 and shows its Micro-USB port. The technical table lists wired, Bluetooth and 2.4GHz receiver connections, eight programmable buttons and approximately 106g weight without the cable. Check the original Pro Click support and specification page.

For comparison, Razer identifies Pro Click V2 as RZ01-0390 and specifies a USB-A-to-USB-C cable for charging and wired use. See the Pro Click V2 support entry.

Ask for the model code if the seller's title is unclear. Pro Click Mini and Vertical Edition names should also be treated as separate products rather than interchangeable descriptions of the original.

Account for the charging cable

A Micro-USB connection may be acceptable if you are happy to keep the right lead at the desk. It may be less convenient if all your other portable devices use USB-C and you regularly move between workspaces.

Check whether the correct cable is included, particularly with an open-box or used offer. Look at the port and connector clearance rather than assuming any cable of the nominal type will fit comfortably into the housing.

Keep the mouse's lead in an accessible place and leave room to use it while connected. Our cable-management guide can help organise an occasional charging lead without leaving it tangled behind the monitor.

Choose the connection around your actual computers

The original Pro Click provides several connection routes, so list the computer ports and wireless connections you intend to use. If using a receiver, confirm that the offer includes the correct one and that it has a suitable place on the computer or dock.

For a used mouse, missing wireless accessories can change the value of the offer. Establish what would still work and whether an appropriate replacement is available before committing.

Do not judge one connection mode from a battery-life claim made for another. If battery runtime is decisive, consult the mode-specific figures and treat them as manufacturer estimates rather than measured results for your workload.

Will the shape and controls suit you?

Try the original shape where possible. Rest your hand naturally, then check the reach to the side buttons and scroll controls. A mouse developed for office use still needs to suit your hand and preferred grip.

Use the trial beside your usual keyboard. A comfortable mouse can become awkward if the keyboard pushes it too far away. Our ergonomic mouse guide explains the broader form-factor choices without treating one shape as suitable for everyone.

If you want programmable actions, check the current supported software and operating system for the exact model. Confirm installation access on a managed work computer. Having extra buttons does not by itself establish that every customisation feature will be available there.

Compare the complete offer with newer alternatives

A discounted original model is worth assessing on its own merits. Compare the delivered price and included accessories with a current alternative that meets the same requirements.

Offer detail Why to check it
Model code Prevents specifications from different generations being mixed.
Cable and receiver Establishes the connection options supplied in the box.
Condition Matters for the buttons, feet, port and rechargeable battery.
Software support Determines the custom controls you can actually use.
Seller support Explains how a fault or unsuitable purchase would be handled.

For a used example, request photographs of the actual mouse and a demonstration of its controls. A lower asking price should reflect any missing accessories or unresolved condition questions.

When would we shortlist the original Pro Click?

Shortlist it if the shape suits you, the exact package is complete and its price is attractive relative to alternatives. Choose a different option if Micro-USB complicates your routine or the seller cannot clearly identify what is included.

You can search for the original Razer Pro Click on Amazon UK. This search includes the original model code, but results may still mix generations; match the selected model code to the appropriate manufacturer page before buying.
