The Logitech Brio 500 is particularly worth investigating if your meetings sometimes involve showing a sketch, sample or physical object on the desk. Its Show Mode gives you a reason to consider it beyond replacing a laptop webcam, provided the camera's mounting position can see the area you want to share.
This guide assesses the documented features and the desk arrangement they need. We have not tested the camera's picture quality or its ability to make a particular document readable.

What does Show Mode do?
Logitech describes tilting the Brio 500 down towards objects on the desk, with the image automatically oriented for the audience. Its Brio 500 launch explanation presents the feature for sharing sketches and physical objects during calls.
That can be useful when talking through a quick drawing or showing something that is not already on screen. It does not establish that every page size, handwriting style or small component will be clearly visible from your monitor's position.
Plan the area the camera would look at. A laptop, keyboard or monitor stand may occupy it. If demonstrating objects is a regular part of your work, the space below the webcam needs to remain usable rather than becoming a temporary pile of displaced accessories.
Test with the material you intend to share
Use a real example of your work during a trial. Place a notebook or object in the intended area, tilt the camera as instructed and check the preview. Look for legible detail, even lighting and a useful amount of surrounding space.
Then test in the meeting application. Ask a colleague during an agreed test call whether the important detail is readable, since your own large preview may not match the view another participant receives.
If you need to show very small detail or keep your face visible at the same time, compare a dedicated second camera arrangement. The Brio 500's appeal is the convenience of changing one camera's view; decide whether that matches your presentation style.
Check Logi Tune access
Logitech's Brio 500 setup guide lists controls in Logi Tune for Show Mode, auto-framing, field of view and other image settings. Its UK product page also identifies Logi Tune as the route to advanced experiences such as auto-framing.
Confirm that the current app supports your operating system and can be installed on the computer you use for meetings. On a managed work laptop, check this before making software-dependent features the reason for buying.
Read the current setup instructions rather than following a screenshot from an older review. Software and firmware interfaces can change while the physical camera keeps the same name.
Understand the resolution trade-off
Logitech specifies 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps for Brio 500. Its manufacturer webcam comparison distinguishes these modes from cameras that offer 1080p at 60fps.
For ordinary meetings, check what your calling service supports before placing great weight on the frame-rate difference. For a local demonstration recording, examine the actual capture settings and the detail you need to show.
No resolution label guarantees that fine handwriting will be readable from a particular distance. Camera position and lighting remain part of the result.
Does the mounting position serve both views?
Check the normal face view before using Show Mode, then check the desk view and the return to the original position. You want a sequence that can be repeated during a call without repeatedly rearranging the workstation.
| Your meeting task | What to test |
|---|---|
| Face-to-face conversation | Framing from your normal seated position. |
| Sketch explanation | Whether the important marks are readable. |
| Showing an object | Whether its relevant surfaces fit in the view. |
| Frequent view changes | How reliably you can return to the face view. |

Is Show Mode enough reason to choose Brio 500?
It is a meaningful reason when you regularly share physical material and a trial shows that the desk view is useful. If every meeting involves only your face and screen sharing, compare the camera on those simpler needs and its complete price.
You can check the graphite Brio 500 offer on Amazon UK. Confirm Brio 500 specifically, the included mount and connection requirements; other Brio models should not be assumed to have the same features. Compare the offer with Logitech's UK product page.
